Battery Caption Head — BGI Percussion

About

Sean Mullarkey is a dedicated percussion instructor based in the Treasure Valley, bringing over a decade of experience in performance and education. Passionate about advancing percussion pedagogy across Idaho, Sean continues to foster musical excellence throughout the region. Being heavily influenced by his experiences in various WGI and DCI ensembles, Sean remains an active contributor in the arts, both as a member and educator. In 2019, Sean participated as a battery section leader at Rhythm Armada, a WGI ensemble based out of Boise, Idaho. He was a member of the Battalion Drum and Bugle Corps in 2019 during their record breaking season. In 2021, Sean returned to Rhythm Armada as the Battery Caption Head and Arranger, which he helped lead the group to their highest scoring season in 2022. Following his time instructing indoor percussion in the Boise area, Sean has been fortunate enough to work with North Star Independent, based in Idaho Falls, during their historic 2023 season, ending as a bronze medalist in the Independent A Class at the WGI World Championships at Dayton, Ohio. Outside of his career as a performer in the marching arts, Sean has taught at multiple high school percussion ensembles. In 2019, Sean returned to his Alma Mater at Rocky Mountain High School, where was hired as the Percussion Director from 2019 to 2021.He currently holds the position of Assistant Percussion Director at Eagle High School, who also competed at the WGI World Championships during their 2024 season and was crowned the Scholastic Concert A Class World Champions. In 2024, Sean proudly joined the instructional staff of the Boise Gems, contributing to both their summer and winter ensembles. Outside of the marching arts, Sean applies his technical expertise as a Software Engineer at Micron Technologies.
